ISLAMABAD: A top-level low-key meeting is underway at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad to chalk out the future strategy as Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led government struggles to deal with the emergent situation following the submission of a damning report in Supreme Court by a high-powered inquiry panel which probed the Sharifs’ offshore assets.
Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, federal ministers and other party aides, including legal wizards of the prime minister, are part of the meeting which is mapping out the strategy for Sharif family’s legal defence in the apex court by challenging the JIT report, sources in the ruling camp told The Express Tribune.
Problems have mounted for the ruling family after the six-member inquiry panel pointed out categorical foul play on part of the PM, his children and other family members in their wealth details linked to offshore companies unearthed in Panama Papers.
