Croatia Going in Wrong Direction

Ivo Josipovic, 59, whose presidency between 2010 and 2015 was marked by Croatia joining the EU and improved relations with the country’s neighbours, has told BIRN he is not satisfied with Croatia’s current foreign policy and its impact on the region. “Our foreign policy rating isn’t what we would expect from the fact that we are an EU member state that can, and must, have an impact on the positive development of relations in South East Europe.” “Quite the contrary, instead of acting positively in the environment, Croatia easily enters quarrels and bickering. The episode with the unsuccessful blockade of Serbia [in the opening chapters in the EU talks] demonstrates that best,” he said
