Muslim leaders in Manchester have expressed concern about a number of Islamophobic incidents in the city, from verbal abuse to criminal damage to mosques.

Senior members of the Muslim community say that they have received reports of abusive behaviour since the attack on Manchester Arena earlier this week.

Fawzi Haffar, trustee of the Manchester Islamic Centre in Didsbury, where Salman Abedi, the Manchester Arena bomber, is understood to have prayed, said: “We are concerned about reports we are receiving about anti-Muslim acts. These are terrible anti-Muslim acts ranging from verbal abuse to acts of criminal damage to mosques in the area and outside the area. We do encourage any incidents to be reported as a hate crime.”

  1. What do you expect from so called civilised Brits? The native Brits/Yanks must learn to respect and tolerate those who are different. You have failed to respect and tolerate Black community, who speaks your language, share your culture and faith. English, Irish, Welsh and Scott hate each other, sharing the same culture, faith and language. It is difficult for you to accept, respect and tolerate Muslims with different culture, languages and FAITH. You have no choice but to accept them for your own survival. The number of Muslims is on the increase because of immigration, high birth rate and conversion. By the end of this century, nearly 50% of British population would be Muslim.

Majority of Muslims have no problem with the West but the majority of people in the West seem to have a problem with Muslim. This is largely due to ignorance and a lazy attitude while being drip fed negative headlines associated with Muslims. Most of the people posting here are a perfect example. They want to hold a whole -on the majority law abiding- responsible for the actions of a few individuals. If we apply the same logic then white Christian men must also be held responsible for the actions of jimmy Seville, Gary glitter and the 90% of pedophiles, who are almost always white men. I won’t even get into the catholic priests or the government MP’s who have been abusing children from care homes in a systematic organised way. In these cases religion, colour, and sex is ignored. Why is it that every time one wacko, does something stupid, 1,9 billion Muslims are held responsible? If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, it must be a duck..

There’s a difference between Islamophobia and the hatred of Muslims – although the two are indisputably linked. The target of the first is a religion. The target of the second is people. There’s a crucial distinction between the two – one vital if the free society’s to be preserved. If a person hates a religious faith, the law should be drawn very widely, if at all. If he hates religious people, it must be framed more tightly. For some Islamist organisations, Islamophobia is less a testing problem than a rhetorical device to delegitimise criticism – a shield behind which to advance on Ministerial patronage, taxpayers’ money, and legal concessions. Let’s be clear. When David Cameron said that the Cordoba Foundation shouldn’t get taxpayers’ money, he wasn’t being Islamophobic. Nor was Michael Gove when he argued that Hizb-ut-Tahrir shouldn’t control schools. Nor was Pauline Neville-Jones when she called for Ministers to review Tablighi Jamaat’s plans for a mega-mosque in East London. Exposure of such Islamist groups as the Islamic Forum of Europe – often voiced by mainstream Muslims themselves, who are Islamism’s main targets – is legitimate and necessary. Islamophobia/anti-Muslim hatred is too important a problem to be left for extreme groups to manipulate for their own ends.

I believe the Government have contributed to the ‘blame’ culture with regard to Muslims. They have overreacted with Terrorist laws and many arrests have been made under these laws of Muslims who have subsequently been released without charge. Muslims in this country have been a force for good, strong families and a hard work ethic. Actually, just as a point of fact, Jewish family law and Jewish ‘courts’ are an established part of British law, and have been for quite some time.

No one should hate anyone especially on the flimsy pretext of there religion, sexuality, race etc. When you hate you harm yourself far more than you could ever harm the person you hate. Hatred doesn’t achieve anything positive. One of the problems we face is that some followers of radical Islam, have embraced hatred and justified it in the name of God. Fighting Fire with Fire will not work, as we have seen it simply feeds the flames. We have made glaring errors since 9-11, which has increased the danger that we all face. In many respects it has been our politicians that have increased the tensions between Islam and the Western World. As with all conflicts there comes a time when we must sue for peace, and enter into negotiations with the “enemy”.

Muslim community in all western countries need Masajid, state funded Muslim schools with Muslim teachers, halal meat, sharia laws, time of for Friday afternoon prayers in the Masjid, two religious official holidays per year and Muslim cemeteries. Stop treating foreigners like garbage and they will stop ruining your precious country. Why did you let them in in the first place if you didn’t want them here? They left everything in their countries because of your promises. Are you so anxious to please that you can’t say “no”? I would love to see you go to a foreign land where you don’t have any friends, you don’t even know anyone and you don’t speak the language, and start from scratch. I would just LOVE to watch you do that. Let them integrate and stop segregating them. What I want is people being nice to each other. I don’t care about race.
