Romania’s president has rejected the left-wing Social Democrats’ candidate for prime minister, Sevil Shhaideh, who would have been the EU nation’s first female and Muslim prime minister.

Klaus Iohannis has not elaborated on his reason for rejecting the candidacy of Shhaideh, a 52-year-old politician of Turkish origin who comes from Romania’s 65,000-strong Muslim community.

“I have properly analysed the arguments for and against and I have decided not to accept this proposal,” Klaus Iohannis said in a televised statement on Tuesday.

  1. Why are we so concerned with any politicians religion.
As long as they can do the job, embody the values of the country they serve and their personal beliefs don’t lead too oppression of individuals.
    Who cares.

Romania is set to appoint a Muslim and a woman as prime minister for the first time in its history. with the nomination of Sevil Shhaideh, a little-known member of the Tartar minority. The centre-left Social Democratic Party (PSD) led by Liviu Dragnea took 45 per cent of the vote on election day in 11 December, double any other party’s share.

Islam in Romania is followed by only 0.3 percent of population, but has 700 years of tradition in Northern Dobruja, a region on the Black Sea coast which was part of the Ottoman Empire for almost five centuries (ca. 1420-1878). In present-day Romania, most adherents to Islam belong to the Tatar and Turkish ethnic communities and follow the Sunni doctrine. The Islamic religion is one of the 16 rites awarded state recognition.

Muslim community is part and parcel of the European society. Now a Muslim is a Mayor of London. Tomorrow a British PM would be a Muslim. Albania is a country with Muslim majority, but the PM is a Christian, no big deal. Jakarta mayor ( Indonesia is the largest Muslim country in the world ) he is Christian. Morocco + Bahrain ( majority Muslims ) has a parliament quota for Jewish .. Jordan , Egypt ( 90% Muslims) has a quota as well for Christians… Rights for Muslims in US government : a big zero … In a secular society religion does not matter, but is a democratic right of every citizen to choose or be chosen.

The reason why religion does matter is because religion (Christianity) is still such a big part in people’s lives and identity. But I totally agree, it shouldn’t matter. Islam is a religion, it is not a race. I think the reason people keep mentioning religion is to rid the thinking of many people who think Muslim women are oppressed when in fact they are some of the most fortunate and able women on the face of the planet!!! More Muslim takeover. The 21st century Trojan Horse. Takeover of what ? world ? we are part of this world 1\7

Lets imagine a world WITHOUT MUSLIMS, shall we?
    Without Muslims you wouldn’t have:
    Experimental Physics
Crank-shaft, internal combustion engine, valves, pistons
    Combination locks
Architectural innovation (pointed arch -European Gothic cathedrals adopted this technique as it made the building much stronger, rose windows, dome buildings, round towers, etc.)
    Surgical instruments
    Treatment of Cowpox
    Fountain pen
    Numbering system
    Modern Cryptology
    3 course meal (soup, meat/fish, fruit/nuts)
    Crystal glasses
Gardens used for beauty and meditation instead of for herbs and kitchen.
    Mariner’s Compass
    Soft drinks
    Plastic surgery
    Manufacturing of paper and cloth
It was a Muslim who realized that light ENTERS our eyes, unlike the Greeks who thought we EMITTED rays, and so invented a camera from this discovery.
It was a Muslim who first tried to FLY in 852, even though it is the Wright Brothers who have taken the credit.
It was a Muslim by the name of Jabir ibn Hayyan who was known as the founder of modern Chemistry. He transformed alchemy into chemistry. He invented: distillation, purification, oxidation, evaporation, and filtration. He also discovered sulphuric and nitric acid.
It is a Muslim, by the name of Al-Jazari who is known as the father of robotics. It was a Muslim who was the architect for Henry V’s castle. It was a Muslim who invented hollow needles to suck cataracts from eyes, a technique still used today.
It was a Muslim who actually discovered inoculation, not Jenner and Pasteur to treat cowpox. The West just brought it over from Turkey.
It was Muslims who contributed much to mathematics like Algebra and Trigonometry, which was imported over to Europe 300 years later to Fibonacci and the rest.
It was Muslims who discovered that the Earth was round 500 years before Galileo did.
    The list goes on………..
Just imagine a world without Muslims. Now I think you probably meant, JUST IMAGINE A WORLD WITHOUT TERRORISTS. And then I would agree, the world would definitely be a better place without those pieces of filth. But to hold a whole group responsible for the actions of a few is ignorant and racist. No one would ever expect Christians or White people to be held responsible for the acts of Timothy McVeigh (Oklahoma bombing) or Andreas Breivik (Norway
killing), or the gun man that shot Congresswoman Giffords in head, wounded 12 and killed 6 people, and rightly so because they had nothing to do with those incidents! Just like the rest of the 1.5 billion Muslims have nothing to do with this incident.
