CAIRO (AP) — An Egyptian court convicted four Coptic Christian teenagers for contempt of Islam on Thursday, after they appeared in a video mocking Muslim prayers, sentencing three to five years in prison and referring a fourth to a juvenile detention facility, one

The harsh ruling — which has followed a surge of blasphemy cases in Egyptian courts — underscores what rights groups describe as a culture of intolerance within the country’s judicial system at a time when the Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi is seeking to position himself as an advocate for religious reform.

The 30-second video showed the students pretending to pray, with one kneeling on the floor while reciting Qur’anic verses and two others standing behind him and laughing. One waved his hand under a second’s neck in a sign of beheading. The video was filmed during a students’ picnic to mock Islamic State group, who beheaded Coptic Christians in Libya last year.

It was filmed on a mobile phone by the students’ teacher, who is also a Christian, and who was sentenced to three years in prison for insulting Islam in a separate trial.

  1. Egypt still apply Blasphemy law, unfortunately..very sad and pity –whereas Allah and Prophet never punished those who insult him and Islam.

This is ancient Arab tradition, not Islamic law.
They have felt into sinful syiric by following men’s law, instead of Al Quran(Allah alone).

No wander if Allah punish Arab countries, because they believe in Idol (men) as Allah warned in QS 7:3
O humankind,) follow what has been sent down to you from your Lord, and do not follow any masters other than Him. Little you heed to advice! QS 7;3
They have taken their rabbis and their Imam as gods beside Allah,QS 9:31

    • Thank you CS, you are with me in this case.

But I still urge you and Muslim Ahmadiyah’s leader to declare that Blalphemy, apostasy and Gay-Lesbian law that written in the book of Hadith have to be removed, there are not Islamic laws, otherwise stupid Muslim (radikal Muslim) keep using these false hadith to punish innocent people as we see every day in Islamic countries.

Extremist Non Muslim accuse that Islam is not blessing religion, but cruel religion.

Why does Muslim Ahmadiyah not dare to declare the false hadith publicly, it will be good for Muslim Ahmadiyah’s followers.

  2. These so-called Islamic governments, instead of showing the merciful, tolerant and loving face of Islam are hell bent on being just the opposite and putting people off from religion altogether.

Considering these are teenagers and therefore minors (most likely), they should be treated with tolerance as misguided children, they are being treated as adults. Even adults, should not be treated this way for there is no such injunction in the Holy Qur’an for blasphemy or for people who make fun of Islam.

I don’t know where these people get their information.

  3. Where was the court when Prof. Saud Saleh maligned the beauty is Islam by saying that Muslim men are allowed to rape non – Muslim women. Behind Islamophobia , increasing hatered against Islam and all types of mocking , there is no one but such Judges and so called Muslim intellectuals like Mr Saleh besides those moulvies who are spreading hatered.

The position of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is very clear when it comes to hadith. All those Ahadith are false which are contrary to the teachings of the Holy Quran.
My personal view is that our religion is in the Quran. Only the teachings of the Quran are permanent and forever. Anything else is temporary. So what was being done a thousand years ago may not be applicable now. Moreover the Quran has to be interpreted again and again in every age. And these new interpretations can and will be different from the earlier interpretations. Otherwise we will be stuck in the sixth century Arabia.
All these false religious leaders who travel in the latest model of luxury cars are responsible for the rut in Islam. Once Muslims develop the courage to challenge their religious leaders and use their own brains, Islam would do just fine. As you have pointed out many times that following these false gods is shirk in the words of the Holy Quran.

    • @ CS –I agree with this statement;===>> So what was being done a thousand years ago may not be applicable now. Moreover the Quran has to be interpreted again and again in every age. About 3000 years before Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) (Islam) sent down by Allah, the time of Prophet Mose (pbuh), the ancient Islamic criminal punishment by using stones to death

      STONE TO DEATH PUNISHMENT.
      From Bible.

If, however, the charge is true and no proof of the young woman's virginity can be found, she shall be brought to the door of her father's house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death. Deuteronomy 22:20-21

If a man is caught in town having intercourse with a girl who is engaged to someone else, stone both of them to death (Deuteronomy. 21)

If someone has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline him, his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town. They shall say to the elders, "This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard." Then all the men of his town are to stone him to death. You must purge the evil from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid. Deuteronomy 21:18-21

Christianity and Judaism do not use these ancient laws anymore, they change it with Jail sentence or use electrical tools or Chemicals, in order a victim do not feel pain for a long times.

But Extremist Muslim such as; Taliban, Al Qaida, Isis still use the ancient punishment as we see in Syria, Iraq etc.

Why did they use "stone" to punish people?
because such Iron sword and knife were not available yet, "the called stone ages"

The time of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) were still primitive culture. as know that from Al quran QS 16:82, the tent and cloth of Prophet made from animal skin and all God's word were written on animal skin and stones too. Can you imagine how primitive life was…

At prophet Muhammad 's time Iron sword and knife were already available, so they used sword and knife to punish people till this present. Arab people are so proud to uphold their ancient tradition or culture. We understand that right.

Since we are not Arab people, we do not need to follow such primitive laws in 21st century. we can reform or change the beheading, cut of hands and flogging punishment at front of public with "Jail sentence".

      What do you think CS?

  5. @ CS, we are getting closer…
The position of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is very clear when it comes to hadith. All those Ahadith are false which are contrary to the teachings of the Holy Quran.

Let us make clear this issue

Do you agree ( Muslim Ahmadiyah ) that these Hadith are contrary to Holy Quraan such; Blasphemy, apostasy, heresy and Homosexual laws ?.

    Your respond appreciate it

  6. @Ali Hidaya
The Quran does not prescribe any punishment for blasphemy, apostasy and heresy. So any one trying to punish for these reasons is a criminal and is not following the quran.
There is no punishment in the Quran for homosexuals. But it is a sin and some restrictions can be applied for preventing this sin to spread in the society.
The issue of homosexuality may be settled in the Western law, but its social consequences have not become apparent yet. This debate is not done. It may be politically incorrect to say anything against homosexuality, but its effect on family life is not decided. The jury is still out.
