TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Human rights advocacy group Setara has demanded the government to protect Ahmadiyah followers from banishment initiated by the Bangka regent Tarmizi H.

Setara Institute deputy chairman Bonar Tigor Naipospos said that the Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo had warned Tarmizi about his plan, but the Bangka regent ignored the call.

“Tarmizi’s disobedience to the Home Affairs Ministry as the representative of the central government is a disobedience to President Joko Widodo,” Bonar said in a press release on Friday, February 5, 2016.

Bonar said that the government must take a serious action, since the issue could become a bad precedent that might spread to other regions. In addition, the issue could give the impression of government’s absence in protecting minority groups.

Earlier, the Bangka Regency administration demanded the Banka branch of the Ahmadiyah Indonesia Congregation (JAI) to move out from Bangka. Tarmizi set the due until February 5, 2016 to the group to vacate their premises located at Sri Meranti Village, Singailiat District, Bangka.

Tarmizi said that the Bangka administration would cover the Ahmadiyah followers’s living cost until February 5, 2016.

“After the date, if they refused to move out, I would let police handle the situation,” Tarmizi said on Wednesday.

According to Bonar, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo should not wait for the plan to be executed and take actions against Bangka regent’s plan.

Bonar added that the government officials had been one of factors hampering religious tollerance in the country. Data from Setara Institute revealed that 98 out of 197 religious rights violations were committed by government officials.

  1. INDONESIAN GOVERNMENT HAVE TAKE GUIDANCE FROM THESE VERSES OF ALLAH ALMIGHTY.

    BLASPHEMY.
Blasphemy law is not exist in Holy Quran, but it is ancient Arab tradition.

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was warned by Allah as below;–Surely, those who have made divisions in their religion and turned into factions, you have nothing to do with them. Their case rests with Allah alone; then He will tell them what they have been doing. QS 6:(159)-

Do not expel those who call out to their Lord morning and evening seeking His pleasure. 14 You are not responsible for anything in their account, and they are not responsible for anything in your account, that you should expel them, and thus become one of the unjust. (52) QS.6:52

Sesungguhnya Tuhanmu, Dia-lah Yang Paling Mengetahui siapa yang sesat dari jalan-Nya; dan Dia-lah Yang Paling Mengetahui orang-orang yang mendapat petunjuk. (7) QS 68;7

Those who mock, scoff and insult Prophet and respond it with PEACE;–
The (faithful) slaves of the Beneficent are they who walk upon the earth modestly, and when the foolish ones address them answer: Peace; QS 25:(63).—-

MY CONCLUSION;–Muslim scholars have to respect and love each other, instead of haing, insult each other.—

Islam is peaceful religion–mercy—forgiveness–love, compassion, tolerance and harmony.—-The Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), said: “None of you has faith until you love for your neighbour what you love for yourself.”

These Golden Rules are found in Christianity, Judaism, and other religions. These are the messages we must give the next generation.(our children and grandchildren) at home and schools.
    Was Salam

  2. Agree with the above comment. Islam is a religion of love and peace.
The people of Bangka are giving a bad name to Islam. I pray that Allah give them understanding and wisdom and put love in their heart.
