14 dead, 75 injured in attack on Lahore’s Christian community

Epigraph:

We (Allah) prescribed for the children of Israel that whosoever killed a person — unless it be for killing a person or for creating disorder in the land — it shall be as if he had killed all mankind; and whoso gave life to one, it shall be as if he had given life to all mankind. (Al Quran 5:33)

Two bomb blasts have killed at least 10 people near two churches in a Christian neighbourhood of the Pakistani city of Lahore, local officials say.

At least 50 people were reportedly hurt in the explosions at the Catholic church and Christ Church in the city’s Youhanabad area.

Violent protests erupted after the blasts, with large crowds already in the area to attend Sunday mass.

Pakistan’s Christian community has often been targeted by militants.

An offshoot of the Pakistan Taliban, calling itself Jamatul Ahrar, has said it carried out the attack.

Witnesses say suicide bombers were responsible for the explosions but police have not confirmed this.

The bombers are said to have detonated their explosives at the gates of the churches. Local media say the death toll has reached 14.

  2. When the paper tiger Pakistani government failed to take concrete action against amir liaquat/geo tv after their hateful allegations on December 22 2014…that it was actually the Ahmadiyya Community that was responsible for the Peshawar massacre and not TTP… I knew then that more atrocities were to come Pakistan’s way. Today I feel sad but not shocked that 14 souls were lost and 70 more harmed.

The bottom line is that the Pakistani majority hate non muslims, as part of their religious upbringing. The proof is that when they disagree with Muslims who do not share their narrow radical views, they try to label them as “non-muslims”, a kind of derogatory term in their sick mind.

This country is in a free fall. First the government has to recognize its past mistake, restore its pre 1974 constitution, purify itself then “attaturk” all the mullahs. Nothing less will do.

  3. It is a sad state of affairs that a small peaceful community of Christians has been attacked by Muslim criminals. Every single person in Pakistan is responsible. The teaching of Islam is that if you see evil, stop it with your hand. If you cannot do this then stop it with your tongue. And if you cannot do even that then at least in your heart you should consider it bed. And this is the lowest level of faith.
How many people of Pakistan have done this. These criminals are not living in some hidden place all by themselves. They are the people of Pakistan. They have families. They live in communities. People know them and praise them and follow them. Why are they able to walk openly and boast about their crimes?
Unless people of Pakistan are able to reduce their ‘Aqeedat’ for their religion and religious leaders, this curse will not go away. Unless people have the courage to question their religious leaders and criticize them, nothing will change. The ‘Shirk’ of aqeedat is deadly.

  4. Killing of innocent peoples is like killing of whole nation.Islam means peace .I don’t know which religion they belong to .Pakistani government should hang all Mullahs including satan Amir Liaqat and his followers who is brain washing of innocent peoples.

  5. بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم
Very very Sad incident, no words are sufficient to condemn this tragic incident, our sympathies are with the grieved families. In the words of Holy Quran we only can say, “انا للہ و انا الیہ راجعون” surely we all belong to our Lord Allah and surely we all bound to return to him.
The government has the responsibility to safeguard its citizens irrespective of their faith, as long as they are loyal citizen to the State, we believe that the Christian minority fulfill this definition, their life and property must be protected. The government must tighten the security of places of worship and that is a binding duty from the Holy Quran to safeguard every place of worship, if government fail to discharge its responsibility, it will be accountable to Allah.
The terrorist has nothing to do with Islam, the Islam does not teach to kill innocent citizens and Allah says time and again that Allah does not love disorder and chaos and do not disturb the peace of land after establishment of peace. Islam mean peace and to submit to the will of Allah, so the terrorist have their own agenda to carry on they are either brainwashed people are they are actually the agents of enemy of Islam as well as the country to defame the both. If the terrorist do not understand the language of logic and reason, stern action must be taken to wipe them off the surface of the earth. The blasphemy laws has no place in Islam, they have been borrowed from the Holy Bible, and they are being used with an interior motives, these must be repealed off, likewise, the state has nothing to do to decide the religion of its citizens, it is between them and Allah, to determine the Religion of citizens is against the command of Allah, so such laws need to be repealed in which the state has assumed the responsibility of determining the beliefs of its citizens contradicting to its constitution and hence giving the Street power in the Hands of power hungry Mullahs.
    Zarif Ahmad
