  1. Let them come to me. I will teach them the Arabic words Momin, Muslim, Kafir, Murtadd (I hope that will be enough).
    1. Momin is the one who accepts the truth. He agrees and admits the message. In Islam, it means he believes there is God almighty, believes in angels and all the prophets and revealed books and heaven and hell…. it is mostly a matter of beliefs. It is the first step.
    2. Muslim is a one who believes all of the above. In other words he is a Momin. In addition he/she offers daily prayers, pays Zakaat, fasts during the month of Ramadhan and performs Hajj once in lifetime if he can make it to Makkah. (forgive me if I missed out anything).
Above all he is a peaceful person, completely peaceful and does not hurt any one. He is not fanatic and not enemy of any faith.
    3. Kafir is a fanatic person, belligerent, hostile person, a terrorist. A Kafir punishes others due to their faith. Please note that he may be reciting the Kalimah and may be a namesake Muslim or a person of any other faith.
Any peaceful person of any faith, Hindu, Jew or Christian, who is peaceful and doing good deeds is not a Kafir.
    6. Murtadd: A murtadd (apostate) is a person who was born in a faith (i.e. by birth) or he/she willingly converted to new faith, freely, say Islam by free will. He/she accepted Islam. Later that person found some fault or difficulty in remaining in Islam. He may say good-bye to Islam by his own open declaration. He may openly say that he has nothing to do with Islam. Such a person is an apostate (Murtadd).
It is not some one whom other people (maulvis) say “Oh you have become a Murtadd.”
Please remember that there is no punishment for joining Islam or leaving Islam. It is wrong to say that punishment of apostasy is death. There is not even a slight punishment in Islam for apostasy.
    Wassalam.
