Masjid Bait-ul-Humd, Binghamton, NY, USA

The inauguration ceremony for Masjid Bait-ul-Humd, Binghamton, NY, USA was held yesterday July 25, 2014, Ramadan 27. A total of 69 people attended. Friday Prayer was led by Ch. Ata ur Rehman sahib.

Inauguration ceremony began at 7 P.M. with Maulana Daud Hanif sahib presiding.

Holy Quran and Nazm were recited by Haashim Shah and Yousuf Shah respectively.

Dr. Afzal ur Rehman, President of the Binghamton chapter of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, welcomed the guests and recognized members for their financial contributions and hard work. He especially recognized the work of Ch. Ata ur Rehman and Dr. Khalid Parwez.

It was noted during the ceremony that according to USA Today, there had been 1200 mosques in 2001 and the number had jumped to 2100 by 2010. Praise be to Allah and thanks to religious freedom in our country USA.

Dr. Khalid Parwez gave a history of the steps leading to the successful completion of the mosque in Binghamton. Basil Malik spoke on etiquettes of visiting a mosque. Raheel Chaudhry gave a speech on the importance of Salat.

Dr. Zia Shah spoke about the relationship of building mosques and revival of Islam.

To make a case for progress of Islam in Europe, Shah noted that in Germany as a whole, more than 400 Roman Catholic churches and more than 100 Protestant churches have been closed since 2000. Another 700 Roman Catholic churches are slated to be closed over the next several years.

By contrast, there are now more than 200 mosques (including more than 40 mega-mosques), 2,600 Muslim prayer halls and a countless number unofficial mosques in Germany. Another 128 mosques are currently under construction.

In neighboring France, mosques are being built more often than Roman Catholic churches, and there now are more practicing Muslims in the country than practicing Catholics. Nearly 150 new mosques are currently under construction in France, home to the biggest Muslim community in Europe.

The total number of mosques in France has already doubled to more than 2,000 during just the past ten years.

Taleem plaques sent by National Taleem Department were awarded by Ch. Ata ur Rehman on the day of inauguration as well.

The meeting concluded with closing remarks by Maulana Daud Hanif sahib and silent prayer.

Maulana Tahir Mahdi, manager Alfazl Rabwah and Prof. Shabir Ahmad Saqib from Jamia Rabwah also graced the occasion.

  1. Al-hamdo Lillah. Whereas I congratulate the Jamaat in Binghampton on this occasion, I would like to mention that Baitul Humd is a different mosque from many others that are built by “Muslims” who preach Jihad and believe in using violence in the name of religion. Ahmadiyya Mosques, in compliance with their motto “Love for all and hatred for none” are centers of Peace and Love.
