Since the Israel-Palestine-Conflict escalated to its climax this month, I recognized that a lot of people are continuously posting slogans, pictures and comments for a free Palestine. What seems to like an online movement on Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter or other social networks, is surely condemning Israeli actions in the strongest terms. Even a lot of Germans – I´m living in Germany – who tried not to say anything against Israel before, because of the so-called historic burden of Nazi Germany, turned against the radical and aggressive policy of Israel on Palestinian civilians living in the open-air prison Gaza.
However, an interesting question came to my mind: How far the call for a free Palestine is just a trend? I opened Facebook again and saw that people, I guess that a large number of them never had to do with the Middle East before, got a lot of “likes” for their supporting-Palestine-posts; yes plural: …posts…! So how far this “support” has an influence on the conflict? Are these posts really a support or help for the victims in Palestine, or elsewhere? Or can we say that in some cases it’s really perverse to post something really sensitive, just to be a trendsetter or to follow a trend…? Then finally who is it that has the power to support the idea of a free Palestine.
These questions are really necessary to understand my following point. I´m truly not taking side of any militant group or government, my position is very clear in this case: the two-state solution and peace!
First of all people should not stop to post or to support the peace process, however they can do, even by posting pictures or whatever. So all the people who never had this conflict on their radar can become involved in it. But don´t see it as trend! It´s really ridiculous to misuse a political aggressive and emotional conflict to raise your own artificial self-esteem! So if you really know the facts you know who to blame and how to blame. And the most important point: try to inform and educate other people so the support can get a real spirit.
But beside what an individual person can do, and there are a lot of NGO´s working very hard for peace in the Middle East, the leaders and clerics of Muslim countries are the main factor for the conflicts and peace in Middle East. In my opinion Palestine could be a free state, if the Muslim leadership in Middle East unites! Some German school-teachers called me for advice, because even here little Muslim children start fighting in school just because of their different believes and confession. Why we have to fight against each other, why we can´t let the people believe what they believe? Governments are declaring minorities as non-Muslims and Muslim theologians are giving permissions to kill others and even terrorist groups are killing their own people, how dumb…!?
The third biggest community of Jews has all the freedom to practice their faith in Iran. If other Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia or Iraq wouldn´t work against Iran, they all together have the power to take influence on the policies for a free Palestine. But Saudi Arabias princes are living their decadent lifestyle, the Iraqi government is not recognizing the demands of Sunni Muslims Iraqis and Iranian clerics are forcing their politician not to establish diplomatic relationships with the infidels. So none of them is dealing with the sad reality, even of their own society. The idea that the leadership of these countries want to enrich themselves is exciting since the time of colonialism, but maybe in these days it´s really more a reason to stay quiet and for the favor of foreign policies and interests in the Middel Middle East…
