The recent raid on their community centre by Jais and possible civil suits has left them little choice but to consider leaving Malaysia.

SELAYANG: The Ahmadiyya community in Kampung Nakhoda near Batu Caves are considering political asylum in the West due to the continued persecution by the religious authorities.

“Depending on the outcome of the latest case against us by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais), we may need seek political asylum in a foreign country.

“Some of us are prepared to move out,” said the group’s local spiritual leader Ainul Yaqeen Muhammad Zain at an interview yesterday at the Baitussalam, the Ahmadiyya’s congregation point in Batu Caves.

Ainul said that presently Ahmadiyyas face persecution in all Muslim nations, especially in Pakistan, and many followers had opted to seek political asylum in Canada.

It would be a shame if Ahmadiyyas would leave Malaysia. A survey recently in the UK showed that the crime rate near the Ahmadiyya centers was not even 10% of the crime rate of other Muslim residential areas. (Survey about Luton, UK, and Mordon, UK). Silly to kick out people whose motto is ‘Love for All and Hatred for None’. Kick out Love and keep Hate?

One Imam working in ‘the West’ commented once that it was really difficult to work there, because in fact in nearly all aspects (except sexual morals) ‘the Westerners’ were in fact living as better Muslims: the country is cleaner, people lie less, are less corrupt, crime is lower than in Muslim countries …

I am worried about Malaysia. When a state-sponsored organization prohibit prayers Allah may withhold His blessings to the whole country. Beware! Look at what Anti-Ahmadiyya legislation got Pakistan into? Do you want Malaysia to follow Pakistan’s footsteps?

  2. Rafiq,
There is already a menacing presence of muhammadans in the West. More are not needed. They should stay where they belong.
However, their choice of the West and the statement of fact by the imam, shows the superiority of cultures.
Since the West has things which are admirable and desirable, those who want them should work to bring their countries up to those standards. If every country was held back by negativity, there would be no sanctuary for the indolent to seek refuge.

  3. Namelee is a confused person. The members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community referred to in this article are not a ‘menacing presence’. You can ask any Western host country about that. But on the other hand I agree that they should remain in Malaysia and not seek to emigrate. Malaysia is their home and they must fight for their rights there.
