God hasn’hasn’t changed, our expectations have!!!
I think that God does interact with us the way he did during biblical times, but we don’t interact with him the same way anymore. There are many reasons for this. For one, our world has gotten louder, busier and more distracting, so we aren’t able to hear God — and we are not practiced in being still and listening for God’s revelation.
Also, science and technology have explained away many of the miracles of God. In our attempt to prove or disprove these miracles, we shot ourselves in the foot. Stripping away the majesty and power of what God does every day has caused us to see these miracles as mundane — thus, we have stopped looking for him.
We are surrounded by people who have been given the gift of prophecy still to this day, but they’re just written off as crazy and completely ignored. Lily Tomlin once said, “Why is it that when we talk to God we’re said to be praying, but when God talks to us we’re schizophrenic?”
