The Israeli authorities have opened a new museum beneath the third holiest site in Islam, the Al-Aqsa Mosque in eastern Jerusalem.
The Al-Aqsa Mosque compound has been subject to an increasing number of raids by both Jewish settlers and Israeli forces in recent weeks, as they voice their demands to divide the compound in half to make way for a Jewish temple.
For many years now, Muslims have complained that Israeli excavation work taking place around and beneath the compound is destabilizing the foundations of the mosque, after the building started showing structural damage.
