The most senior and influential Sunni Muslim leader in Saudi Arabia has said wealthy pilgrims should help the poor instead of performing Hajj twice.
Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh, who has been the religious leader of Saudi Arabia for almost 15 years, said spending money on helping the poor is preferable to performing the religious duty twice.
According to the Saudi Gazette, Al-Asheikh said wealthy Muslims should either spend the money they would have used for Hajj on the poor and needy, or to help another Muslim perform the pilgrimage.
Hajj is a religious duty for able-bodied Muslims who can afford to undertake the journey. Pilgrims walk from Mecca to Mina to the Plain of Arafat, where they stand near the Mount of Mercy to ask Allah for forgiveness.
Al-Asheikh made the comments while addressing the three-day Grand Hajj Seminar ahead of the pilgrimage, which starts on 13 October.
This year’s seminar has the theme ‘learn priorities in Hajj’. During his speech, the Grand Mufti also urged scholars to spread his message about charity.
Hajj is the largest gathering of Muslims in the world and people spend millions every year to perform the pilgrimage.
The divide between the rich and poor during Hajj has been highlighted in the past. Local businesses in Mecca have been accused of hiking their prices and Suhail Khadim, a travel agent at Birmingham-based Al-Hidaayah told the Jerusalem Post that like all holidays, people can pay for luxury.

Well, for a change I even like what the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia says this time…
1–grand mufti’s first point is as correct as a daylight which i have been thinking for more than 50 years and found at least ONE by my thinking. And, i had been doing that all the way long to day.
2–the other point that the money used for the second hajj must be given to someone who can not afford on his own is not valid in the light of Quranic instructions at all.
3–Almighty tells perform hajj provided you are finacially sound, otherwise no compulsion all, rather person must be thankfull to Almighty’s cosession instead of begging of the people for hajj or reminding to Almighty istead of being thankfull to ALLAH. do u think ALLAH knows nothing and you remind beccause he forgets things Read Quran carefully. WASSLAAM
Begging to go to Hajj is not right. But the words pf the Grand Mufti are also right. He is advising the wealthy people against going to Hajj second time.
Please read his words below:

Note the last words “performing Hajj twice.”
There seems no harm in helping some one to visit Makkah for Hajj.
According to the Saudi Gazette, Al-Asheikh said wealthy Muslims should either spend the money they would have used for Hajj on the poor and needy(very correct). And read next line now:- or to help another Muslim perform the pilgrimage(WRONG WRONG WRONG).
If Allah says i made person in a position—-GO AHEAD !!! ,so, GO and thank ALLAH
IF ALLAH has not put person in a position, person is not compelled. person must be releived and rather more thankfull to ALLAH, why keep crying and showing a unthanking behaviour that person does not accept concessions given by ALLAH.Rather person rejects conccessions full force by persons’s ignorant behaviour——–WASSLAAM
It is not understood. The Ahmadis feel that it a good thing to help some one go to Hajj. It is not a bad deed, I hope. People have extreme wish to see the Ka,abah. Actions depend on intentions.
I give an example. There was a maulvi who taught who taught Quran to my son and daughter. We used to pay him monthly. He did good job.
After that we moved to an Arab country and only my eldest son was living in a posh society, back at home. After a few years (1988), that maulvi somehow located our new address in the country and visited my son and said that he wants to go for Hajj. He has managed all the money except that Rupees 4000/- are needed.
Our son passed the message to us and I approved the money.
That maulvi got the money and visited the Haji camp. In the Haji camp, the managers asked him if he knew the prayers. He said, “Yes.” The management told him that he need not pay a penny. He will be appointed as an Imam for the Hajj contingent.
So that Maulvi performed Hajj and all his expenses were saved. He visited my son and told all the story. We were very happy to hear about the good luck of that maulvi.
I do not think I did anything wrong in helping that maulvi.
Of course, I was non-Ahmadi at that time and I had performed Hajj myself (1970 Hajj e Akbar), Umrah 1971, Umrah 1983, Umrah 1984,(and Hajj in 1989 as an Ahmadi). I was in a gulf country.
I think that is true. I believe in my God Allah.
If Allah does not give everything to u u don’t receive also. And when Allah open your mind u will
to go to Haji. i hope one day May Allah i will
