Gambia: Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Supports Disaster Victims in Foni The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat in The Gambia Tuesday extended a helping hand to nine families in Foni Bondali District of the West Coast Region that were affected by disaster during this year’s rainy season.

The presentation ceremony, which was held at Kanwally village, saw two other villages in Jabai and Brunma joined the host in receiving 18 bags of rice, nine 5litre gallons of cooking oil and some cash.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the Amir of The Ahmadiyya Mission in The Gambia, Baba F. Trawally, expressed regret over the unfortunate incident that led to the displacement of some families. He explained that the priority of a Muslim is to render assistance to fellow Muslims especially in times of difficulty.

Amir Trawally called on individual philanthropists and other humanitarian agencies to take part in such ventures noting that government alone cannot do it . Trawally also used the occasion to pray for the affected families for God’s protection against future emergencies. He also hailed the degree of stability in The Gambia an prayed for continued peace in the country. He reminded the gathering that some parts of the world are equally hit by disasters, but could not get immediate assistance due to instability.
