Olmsted Falls school district pulls video on Islam after conservative group raises possible legal challenge

cleveland.com: OLMSTED FALLS, Ohio – Faced with the threat of a federal lawsuit, the Olmsted Falls schools have pulled a video about Muslims in America from its seventh-grade social studies curriculum.

School Superintendent Jim Lloyd said the district agreed to remove the 2005 documentary TV show, “30 Days: Muslims and America,” rather than spend money defending the right to show it.

“Muslims and America” is narrated by Morgan Spurlock, best known for his film “Super Size Me,” in which he ate only McDonald’s for one month.

It follows a Christian man who lives as a Muslim for 30 days with a family in Dearborn, Mich., sharing the family’s culture, studying the Koran and attending prayers.

  1. The video points to the most stereotypical fact that all Americans are ignorant and bigot towards Muslims and the fact this video is post 9/11 and some “oh pls we are so innocent” video proves that this has nothing to do with their curriculum. Islam has always been a very aggressive religion and for people who say it is only wanting peace is pure bullshit.Islam should never be taught in our public schools, K through 11. Perhaps grade 12 is acceptable, but only on one condition. If school administrators insist on teaching it, Islamic violence must be included in the lesson plans because it is part and parcel of early Islam and Muhammad’s life. Of course, Muslim apologists assert that Christianity is filled with violence, citing the Roman Emperor Constantine and the Medieval Crusaders. However, to repeat, they are not foundational for Christianity—only Christ and the New Testament are. And he and the New Testament authors never practiced or endorsed such violence.
On the other hand, Muhammad and his Quran are foundational for Islam, and violence fills his life and its pages. So if Rafiq and Abdul would actually learn about the circumstance of this event that would be great; otherwise, shut up.

    • Dear ‘My Sides’. Thank you for your kind advice. You prove the point that The Muslim Times is much needed, so is the teaching of Islam as a subject in all schools and for all peoples of the world who are keen to acquire knowledge. Frankly speaking your post is a bit confusing. Are you suggesting for instance that when learning about Christianity we should only be taught the New Testament and omit mentioning of Crusades?

    • I am amazed that you want a dialogue while being rude. How does it help you if we shut up. Are you too insecure to listen to us because you are afraid that we may be able to prove to you that the foundational truth of Islam is non violence? Please take a deep breathe and eject this Islamophobic poison instilled into you by western media from your being. If you can do that then go to http://www.alislam.org and read a few passages from authentic accounts of Muhammad’s (SAW) life and you will see how sadly mistaken you are and what a beautiful opportunity you are msising to turn your life around. May the Lord of all the worlds and all the people open your heart.
