“I am ashamed of being a Muslim”

Source: Dawn.Com

My Christian brothers, today I am ashamed of being a Muslim. The death of 81 Christians in a Peshawar church on Sunday shows how criminal we are. Please do not forgive me for being silent while other Pakistanis are killed by mad mullahs. Please condemn me.

  1. I am not ashamed to be a Muslim; a Muslim who fears Allah and respects the rights of all other humans and all other creations!

  2. I am new to Islam, I would never be ashamed of *my* choice to become Muslim, I am very proud of this! I read My Holy Qur’an’s daily and I do not think Allah would approve of mortal humans taking judgement of individuals into their own hands…this is Allah’s privilege solely! These radical’s I personally do not even consider them Muslims! I believe they may even fit into the non-believer category, they certainly are not reading the same Holy Qur’an that I am reading! …no doubt these persons of terror will be in the “left hand group” on the final day.

  3. Prophet Mohammed(saw) protected non- muslims living in Medina and allow the Christian disputants from Najran to even worship in his mosque. The current hate, terrorism etc being preached and practised by so called Islamic countries like Pakistan is alien to true Islam and is hereby condemned. If God had willed that we all become one believer on one path, He would have done it but He does not, rather freedom of worship was enjoined.

  4. Zubair Khan,
Thank you for your honesty, Finally people are awakening to the reality of Islam. Stop blaming Muslims for what they are doing around the world, in reality, they are doing just what Allah prescribed in the Koran.

[48.28] He it is Who sent His Apostle with the guidance and the true religion that He may make it prevail over all the religions; and Allah is enough for a witness.

You see it is Allah’s plan that is being carried out throughout the world. Muslims are just pawns in the big scheme of things.

[9.29] Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Apostle have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection.

Believers are asked to fight unbelievers, Why??? simply because they disbelieve. If you read the context of 9:29 it will become crystal clear that Allah required Islam (in all it’s insanity) to prevail over the whole earth.

I pity Muslims, you are the very first victims of Islam.. Wake up brothers and sisters, blinded by faith in Islam and read the Koran with open eyes and an unbiased mind, and you will see the horror that unravels, and then pick up your newspapers and read what death and destruction this religion is causing on a daily basis, just to confirm the fulfilment of surah [4:28] and [9:29]

  5. Defensive war and peace in Islam

There is something common between the Islamophobes and the terrorists. When they read the Holy Quran, they find terror and violence.

Indeed, the beauty lies in the eyes of the observer.

When we, the Ahmadiiyya Muslim Community read the Quran, we find a message of peace, love, compassion and Universal Brotherhood.

A quick scanning of the bold parts will give the reader the peaceful message, in the Holy Quran, at a glance.

First the verses of Sura Hajj, when defensive war was first allowed:

Permission to fight is given to those against whom war is made, because they have been wronged — and Allah indeed has power to help them — Those who have been driven out from their homes unjustly only because they said, ‘Our Lord is Allah’ — And if Allah did not repel some men by means of others, there would surely have been pulled down cloisters and churches and synagogues and mosques, wherein the name of Allah is oft commemorated. And Allah will surely help one who helps Him. Allah is indeed Powerful, Mighty. (Al Quran 22:40-41)

Now, read the verses from Sura Baqara, which talk about peace options repeatedly:

And fight in the cause of Allah against those who fight against you, but do not transgress. Surely, Allah loves not the transgressors.

And kill them wherever you meet them and drive them out from where they have driven you out; for persecution is worse than killing. And fight them not in, and near, the Sacred Mosque until they fight you therein. But if they fight you, then fight them: such is the requital for the disbelievers.

But if they desist, then surely Allah is Most Forgiving, Merciful.

And fight them until there is no persecution, and religion is freely professed for Allah. But if they desist, then remember that no hostility is allowed except against the aggressors. (Al Quran 2:191-194)

Often the Islamomaniacs and the Islamophobes misunderstand some of the verses in Sura Taubah. Read some of the other verses from the same Sura to appreciate the context:

Excepting those of the idolaters with whom you have entered into a treaty and who have not subsequently failed you in anything nor aided anyone against you. So fulfil to these the treaty you have made with them till their term. Surely, Allah loves those who are righteous. (Al Quran 9:4)

How can there be a treaty of these idolaters with Allah and His Messenger, except those with whom you entered into a treaty at the Sacred Mosque? So, as long as they stand true to you, stand true to them. Surely, Allah loves those who are righteous.

How can it be when, if they prevail against you, they would not observe any tie of relationship or covenant in respect of you? They would please you with their mouths, while their hearts refuse, and most of them are perfidious.

They barter the Signs of Allah for a paltry price and turn men away from His way. Evil indeed is that which they do.

They observe not any tie of relationship or covenant in respect of anyone who trusts them. And it is they who are transgressors. (Al Quran 9:7-10)

In the same Sura Taubah, Allah lays the blame squarely on the non-believers, for starting the war:

Will you not fight a people who have broken their oaths, and who plotted to turn out the Messenger, and they were the first to commence hostilities against you? Do you fear them? Nay, Allah is most worthy that you should fear Him, if you are believers. (Al Quran 9:13)

So, the permission to fight is only for self defense.

The so called sword verse, Al Quran 9:5, which is often quoted by Islamomaniacs and Islamophobes does not seem to have any application in present day social, religious and political context, when all the Muslim countries and the Muslims living in the West, through their respective countries are signatory of Universal Declaration of the Human Rights.

As long as the non-Muslims are abiding by such treaties the Muslims are duty bound to abide by the treaties.

We have a very honest and reasonable approach to the current affairs. Just see our condemnation of the recent Church bombing in Peshawar, Pakistan.

In, USA, every year the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community collects thousands of blood donations to save lives, around the time of September 11, to rectify the wrong done, as far as the humans can, by some Muslims in 2001.

We realize that saving of one life is like the saving of the whole humanity and killing of one innocent person, according to the Quranic description is equivalent to a genocide or a holocaust. (Al Quran 5:33)

  6. Marcella says “I am new to Islam, I would never be ashamed of *my* choice to become Muslim, I am very proud of this! I read My Holy Qur’an’s daily and I do not think Allah would approve of mortal humans taking judgement of individuals into their own hands…”

What version of the Koran are you reading? Allah hates unbelievers.
[3.32] Say: Obey Allah and the Apostle; but if they turn back, then surely Allah does not love the unbelievers.

[8.14] This– taste it, and (know) that for the unbelievers is the chastisement of fire.

[48.13] And whoever does not believe in Allah and His Apostle, then surely We have prepared burning fire for the unbelievers.

Now that has made it abundantly clear that he does not love unbelievers,

    Good Luck

  7. Zia says “There is something common between the Islamophobes and the terrorists. When they read the Holy Quran, they find terror and violence…”

Why are you ignoring the true agenda of the Koran Mr. Shah?

What part of [9:29] AND IT’S CONTEXT is unclear to you?

[9.29] Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Apostle have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection.

Islamophobia? really Zia? This term is as a ploy used by many Muslims, as a pathetic excuse to hide behind, while they make the west feel guilty for exposing what is potentially the true danger that this religion holds for all unbelievers.

Ponder on this for a while, …

  8. Trojan, you proved my point again that there is something common between Islamophobes and terrorists, they cannot see the peaceful message, in the Quran, because of their preconceived ideology or paradigm.

I still hope that you are salvageable and I am not using this label for you. I am applying the term only to committed bigots out there.

Like, no matter, how hard one may try, committed atheists just do not have the imagination to conceptualize Transcendent God. They just do not want to conceive any thing, which is beyond materialism or naturalism.

Similarly, it seems that you just completely ignored my detailed comment above, with several verses of the Holy Quran and just re-phrased your concern about some of the verses of Sura Tauba. I have given you other verses from the same Sura, if you read verses quoted by you in the context of the verses I quoted, from Sura Hajj, Baqra and Tauba, coming up with a better and peaceful understanding, should not be rocket science, for a fair and balanced person.

Please, also note we will not have an endless debated here, on this issue. At some point we will just have to trust the Merciful God that He will guide the readers Himself.

    Peace!

  9. @Trojan:
[48.28] He it is Who sent His Apostle with the guidance and the true religion that He may make it prevail over all the religions; and Allah is enough for a witness.

You see it is Allah’s plan that is being carried out throughout the world. Muslims are just pawns in the big scheme of things.
    ——————————–
Myself: It is Allah’s plan and not to prevail by fighting. But to prevail by Love, Justice and Peaceful preaching.

Every one knows that Muslims never started any hostilities (wars). It was the polytheists of Arabia or the Christians of the Roman empire who started a war. Muslims then had to defend themselves.
    ———————————————-
    @Trojan:

    ———————————–
Myself: Believers are not required to fight the peaceful disbelievers. If we read the next verse (9:30), we find that these are not simple disbelievers. They are likened to Kafir who is well known as an active, hostile, belligerent disbeliever. If possible, I will try to present here the verse 9:30. Otherwise every one can read it themselves and observe the meaning there. That verse is clearly connected with verse 9:29, and word Kafir is there.

“There is no Compulsion in Religion.” Muslims are never told to fight with any peaceful disbeliever (non-believer). Trojan is trying to build a wrong case against Islam. Please see verse 9:30 where I have capitalized the word kafir.

verse 9:30. [9:30] And the Jews say, Ezra is the son of Allah, and the Christians say, the Messiah is the son of Allah; that is what they say with their mouths. They imitate the saying of those who DISBELIEVED before them. Allah’s curse be on them! How are they turned away!

Even though the Jews and the Christians say wrong words about Allah, that is no matter but their words and deeds are exactly like the Kafir, the enemies of faith,

In the war zone where war was imposed upon the Muslims, it was good idea to separate peaceful nonbelievers from those who were combatants, just by levying a small fee. That was in return of giving them safety too so they will not have to defend themselves from their enemies.

In reading chapter 9 of Quran, one has to keep in mind the complete history of that time; the evil deeds of the polytheists and the friendship of the people of the books with enemies of Islam. The Jews and the Christians had no need at all to join hands with the polytheists! Jews had nothing in common with the polytheists of Arabia. Jews believe in ONE God.

The best advice is to cooperate with each other now and not to blame each other. The last verse of Para One of Quran says:
“They are a people who have passed away. For them is what they earned and for you what you earn. And you will not be asked about what they had been doing.”

  10. You should have been ashamed in 1953 when riots started first time against Ahmadi Muslims you should have been ashamed in 1974 when state intervened in religion and declared Ahmadi Muslims “non Muslim” you should have been ashamed in 1984 when an ordinance was issued against Ahmadi Muslims you should’ve been ashamed when two Ahmadiyya mosques were attacked and 89 Ahmadi Muslims were martyred no govt announced even one day mourning. Now do not cry over spilled milk

  11. I think the author of the article is not claiming that he is ashamed of the religion of Islam instead he is pointing out that the actions of his fellow Muslims have put him to shame. I do respect the author for condemning this heinous act against Christian but I wish that such condemnation had taken place in 1970s and 1980s when the government made took over the role of defining what is Muslim. Today the grip of violence that is strangling Pakistan to death can’t be broken with verbal condemnation only. What is needed is the rebooting of Pakistani institutional values. Of course, easy said than done.

  12. Muslims turning into terrorist here and there isn’t strange to me, because the imam mahdi has arrived and they rejected him, so its not unexpected if they don’t understand the peaceful message of the holy Qurhan.

  13. At least somebody is. Most Muslims have a superiority complex that would shame Simon Cowell. Do you really think that you deserve any sympathy after The misery you have delivered or complied in delivering to Lee Rugby’s widow? To hundreds like her? To the children of Beslan? Are you honestly deluded enough to think that hurtful comments about your religion are worse than people dying every day because of yokels worldwide inspired by your pathetic religion? Before you say “Ooh but what about Gaza, Iraq etc, tough. Israel, the USA and the UK contribute 7% of world conflict at most. Your communist lapdogs, 21%. Islam? 64% of world conflict, based in the 44-46 world conflicts in 2013 and the groups motivated in them. Not that you care when the killer or invaders is a Muslim. Converts are the worst, by far the most stupid, evil, unpleasant and downright destructive. Thank god that Angola has become the first country in the world to ban this disgraceful cult. But the guy who wrote this, I won’t condemn you, at least you spoke out against it.

  14. May all true believers in the one true God (whatever you may call Him), humble themselves and seek to glorify HIs name by lives lived humbly and righteously with all people.. For those who don’t believe in God,…may you at least honour and respect human life.
