Allah and His Prophet are both Secular: Brings Blasphemy Charges for Columnist

LAHORE: Additional District and Sessions Judge Akmal Khan on Thursday directed the SHO concerned to record the statement of petitioner against columnist Ajmal Khan Niazi over the blasphemy charges.

The complainant advocate Mazhar Khan Ashraf contended before the court that he had read a column of Ajmal Khan Niazi published in an Urdu daily. He said that Niazi had stated in his column that Allah and his prophet both are secular. The petitioner stated that comments of the columnist were astonishing for him.

However, he consulted a dictionary in which the meaning of secular was non-believer. He further said that in this regard the columnist has committed blasphemy and hurt not only his sentiments but also thousands of other Muslim readers. He said that he had contacted SHO Islampura to register a case against Niazi for sacrilegious writings but he did not entertain him. He implored the court to take action against Niazi.

The court after hearing the arguments of the complainant has directed SHO Islampura to record the statement of petitioner and proceed as per law.
