Italy racism row: Cecile Kyenge compared to orangutan

Epigraph: O ye who believe! let not one people deride another people, who may be better than they, nor let women deride other women, who may be better than they. (Al Quran 49:12)
O mankind, We have created you from a male and a female; and We have made you into tribes and sub-tribes that you may recognize one another. Indeed, the most honorable among you, in the sight of Allah, is he who is the most righteous among you. Surely, Allah is All-knowing, All-Aware. (Al Quran 49:14)

An Italian senator has been pressured into apologising after he said the country’s first black cabinet minister reminded him of an orangutan.

Roberto Calderoli, from the anti-immigration Northern League, told a rally that the success of Integration Minister Cecile Kyenge encouraged “illegal immigrants” to come to Italy.

Ms Kyenge is an Italian citizen born in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

It is the latest in a series of rows over racism in Italy.

“I love animals – bears and wolves, as everyone knows – but when I see the pictures of Kyenge I cannot but think of, even if I’m not saying she is one, the features of an orangutan,” Mr Calderoli said in a speech to a rally in the northern city of Treviso on Saturday.

He also said Ms Kyenge should be a minister “in her own country”.

  1. I’m so glad somebody finally addressed this problem. This is an on going problem in my life. I DO NOT appreciate having bananas thrown at me.

  2. This article is ridiculous and doesn’t report real facts.

First of all, similarly to Italy’s former Prime Minister Letta, Kyenge wasn’t elected by anyone and has been found guilty of using taxpayers’ money to build amazing villas and houses back in Congo for herself and her father, a tribal wizard who has cursed his daughter’s opponents for criticising her!

Second of all, Kyenge arrived in Italy as an illegal immigrant and has always specified that she doesn’t consider herself to be an Italian citizen and that her job was to defend immigrants, rather than real Italians.

Moreover, she worked hard to ensure that illegal immigration would no longer be considered a crime, insisted on giving benefits, jobs, free houses, mosques and even free Internet connection to ALL illegal immigrants coming from Africa and Asia.
She also made sure that no immigrant would be checked for diseases and illnesses upon their arrival, which is why ebola, tuberculosis and other diseases are now spreading across the entire country, even though Italians successfully defeated them a long time ago.

The reason why several politicians offended her is because she called them “ignorant”, “stupid”, “shameful”, “ugly” and “racist”. Last but not least, she has used taxpayers’ money to attend various festivals and non-political events worldwide with her family. Plus, her husband claimed that he had to pay former PM Letta over €50.000 to ensure that his wife would be nominated.

The author should have considered these facts before writing such a biased article.
