The Mahmoud Mosque – the oldest in Switzerland – was inaugurated June 22, 1963 in Zurich.

This Saturday, local Ahmadiyya Muslim Community invites the public to an open house in the presence of political and religious representatives.

The community says the mosque – a cube-shaped building with two floors and 18 meters high minaret – will remain be open to the public throughout the day.

50 years ago, the President of the General Assembly of the United Nations, Pakistan’s Sir Muhammad Zafrullah Khan, himself an Ahmadi, inaugurated the mosque in the residential district of Balgrist.
