SAO PAULO: The six-day old drama around Nicolas Maudro’s election as Venezuela’s president took a nasty turn on Friday, when he was pushed from the microphone as he delivered his inaugural address. As Maduro was delivering his speech after taking oath as Venezuela’s new president, a man rushed to the podium, lunged at the leader and grabbed the microphone. As the man, who said his name was Henry, was dragged away by security guards, a shocking a nation that is slowly returning to normal missed a heartbeat. “He could have shot me here,” said the new president, before continuing with his address in which he committed himself to the “path of Hugo Chavez“, the popular leader who passed away on March 5.
