President John Dramani Mahama, presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is the winner of the 2012 presidential election.

The President Elect polled 5,574,761 of the valid votes cast, representing 50.70 per cent.

Dr Kwadwo Afari-Gyan, Chairman of the Electoral Commission made the declaration at the EC conference room in Accra on Sunday night.

“Based on the results given, I declare John Dramani Mahama as the President-elect”, Dr Afari-Gyan told a packed audience

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, presidential candidate of the New Patriotic party and closest challenger of the president elect, polled 5,248, 898 of the votes, representing 47.74 per cent.

Turn out was 79.4per cent.

A total of 10,995, 262 valid votes out of 11, 246, 982 were cast.

Rejected votes totalled 251,720

  1. We all congratulate President John Dramani Mahama on his re-election. We hope he will give an excellent stewardship to all Ghanaians for reposing confidence in him.
    It is my hope that the perceived corruption that has engulfed his government will cleared as soon as possible to enable him get the support of all Ghanaians to move forward.
