After the attack on a rabbi in Berlin, the Central Council of Jews in Germany has called for more involvement of Muslim organizations in the fight against anti-Semitism. The Council would appreciate it if the associations “would turn finally determined against anti-Semitism in their own ranks”  said the Central president Dieter Graumann in the newspaper “Berliner Zeitung” on Friday. Words of sympathy from Muslim associations were indeed “meant nice and honest”, but he stressed get on the action.

A waiver to wear Jewish symbols such as the traditional headgear kippa refused Mr Graumann. The rabbi had been insulted on Tuesday evening in Berlin by four teenagers apparently of Arab origin in front of his daughter and was attacked. The young men recognized the 53-year-old, according to investigators because of his kippah, and asked if he was a Jew. One of the youths then beat at several places of body  injuring the man’s head also. The perpetrator threatened  the girl with death. The Central Council of Muslims condemned the attack on Thursday. The Central Council of Muslims in Germany called on Jews and Muslims to stand together and anti-Semitism and racism.

  1. ignorance breeds hatred, children must be taught to love not hate. adults should refrain from using negative comments about other people in front of their children even if they dissagree with those people, they should also teach them to defend the diffenceless no matter who they are and also remind their children that we are all creatures of god and that our differences are important, that without variations and differences, the world would be a boring place to live in. the rainbow with only one color is boring, the flowers and the trees and the animals and all creatures of God if only one kind would be boring and depressing. whether your an arab, muslim , christian or jew, red brown, white or black. if you truly love your children, then save their little hearts from being hardened and if you criticize them or others make sure that it is only meant as constructive and not destructive and make sure you remind them that it’s the act and not their person you condemn and try to give them some visual aid if need be or an example they can comprehend we must condemn all types of hate and evil acts without labeling it arab, muslim , jew , christian, white, black or brown.pay attention to your childrens behaviour at home and around others and don’t forget your own childhood and what made you feel warm and happy, a hug, a touch , a kiss or a smile or a good laugh or a happy cry. In the end we should focus on the positive stories and make them our headlines and negative stories mention them in small writing and inshaallah LOVE will prevail and hate will cease to exist.May Allah taala open peoples hearts and minds to know and feel Allah’s Love and mercy (ameen)

  2. I am Jewish and live in Haifa Israel. Jews, Muslims, Christians, and Druze live together as true neighbors. I have lived in Haifa for five years and rarely if ever hear or see ignorance between the faiths. There is much effort in Haifa to promote education and understanding of each others faiths both in the home and in public. For example, I shared my last Passover with a Muslim family and a Jewish one. The Holiday of Holidays is a public event that gains much attention. We publicly celebrate each others holy days to promote understanding and peace. It can be done if the efforts are made even in this turbulent region.
