One of the empty streets in Accra Wednesday
Many cities and towns across Ghana came to a virtual standstill Wednesday as the nation mourned the late President John Evans Atta Mills who was laid in state at the Banquet Hall, State House in Accra.
In Accra, official and commercial activities in many parts of the city were virtually halted as many people abandoned their schedules for the day to throng the State House for an opportunity to file past the body, while some traders also kept glued to television and radio sets to watch or listen to the live coverage of the funeral.
