Iftikhar Chaudhry: The Chief of Injustice!

Credit: LUBP

Iftikhar Chaudhry has distorted the very concept of democracy by ousting a prime minister from his office. This is similar to what armed forces do when they bring in a coup.

If an intellectually weak person is given unrestricted power, he or she can wreak havoc of the whole system. If a criminal’s crimes are forgotten, and an assumption is made that he’ll never repeat his old crimes, such an assumption is naive. Furthermore, it’s more naive to believe that a person, who came into power on army’s and (Punjabi) establishment’s payroll, will execute justice without prejudice.

Iftikhar Chaudhry in his three and a half year tenure has proved that he is incapable of understanding democracy, justice, and rule of law.

He made a mockery of justice when he started taking Suo Motto notices on petty issue. Self-motivated legal actions were taken on issues like a woman secretly possessing alcohol and I.G traffic was called into the court because of traffic problems in Islamabad. He made a mockery of justice by addressing corruption allegation which were against PPP, while the Punjabi PML(N) was never questioned. The Chief Justice never took a Suo Motto on Shareef’s six billion rupees corruption, he never asked about the “Qarz utaro Mulk Sawaro” money which was collected by PM Shareef during his second tenure.

  1. Prime Minister as well President have constitutional powers to remove him. But in Pakistan nothing can be done without the consent of Pak Army. This act of removal by either will result in street protests thus clearing the way for Army to take over. Peoples Party will never opt for this option as it can damage its political credentials. Trika will keep on testing the patience of each other. Zardari, being the more intelligent likely to prvail relaitve to CJ but not against Army. (Just my perception while you have many Guruz who read now MT and can give their opinion)

  2. It annoys a person to see people taking side of Gilani. The most corrupt prime minister in the world. He is a habitual criminal. He commits crime for seeking more luxuries. He is already filthy rich. But the greed keeps him cheat the nation. I do not condemn him for removing him.
Besides what is the difference? Father went home so that his son takes another seat.
It is so bad that he has never seen the injustice afflicted on the Ahmadiyya sect under his jurisdiction. He will be answerable to God for this silence.
He sure is chief “injustice” in this regard.

  3. politics is in fact poly tricks. Hence no political party has my favour. My only interest is the well being of Pakistan. Whoever can do that should stay.

  4. good chat on Iftikhar “Chori”. Keep it up! Histotry repeats itself. The allegations which were levelled agains Iftikhar Chori by Gen Musharaf are being levelled now by PPP stalwarts like Faisal Raza Abdi and Sharjil Memon. Aagay Aagay Dekhiay hota hay kia.

  5. It seems so evident that the judiciary is lined up with the religious parties and Defense of Pakistan council of Gen (R) Hameed Gul. The parliament has all the right to amend constitution and make laws, judges cannot make laws. Not a single terrorist is hanged or punished but the judiciary continues to maneuver the political government. The chief justice, Iftiqar Choudry continues to make public statements and acts as if he is a political leader. This is unprecedented in the recent history of the world. The politicians must join hands in the parliament and impeach these radical judges. Say NO to judicial activism, NO to judicial political party, NO to judicial dictatorship. People say justice is blind, but in Pakistan the justice is ‘Kani’ (one eyed justice) meaning unfair, politically motivated.
