Panel announces suggested political reforms

AMMAN – The National Dialogue Committee (NDC) on Saturday handed its recommendations on measures to reinvigorate political life in the country, including new elections and political parties laws, to the government, its chairman, Taher Masri, said.

Masri, Senate president and a former prime minister, said that the committee decisions were reached in consensus, adding that the final draft of recommendations was put together after thorough discussions between the committee members and the various civic society institutions, including opposition parties, political figures and youth groups.

“Our mission is accomplished. The ball now is in the court of the government to continue the reform process and translate the recommendations into action,” Masri said at a press conference yesterday. read more
