Kuala Pembuang, InfoPublik – Deputy Regent of Seruyan, Supian, led a meeting on Supervision of Community Beliefs and Religious Movements and Prevention of Abuse and Blasphemy of Religion, which took place in the Hall of the Seruyan Regent’s Office, on Wednesday (2/7/2025).

The meeting discussed the development of the Indonesian Ahmadiyah Jamaah (JAI) in Unit 5 Region which is increasing.

The meeting was attended by various cross-sector elements, including representatives of the Seruyan District Attorney’s Office, related Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD), the Ministry of Religion of Seruyan Regency, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of Seruyan Regency, the Chairperson of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) of Seruyan Regency, the Chairperson of Muhammadiyah of Seruyan Regency, and the Interfaith Harmony Forum (FKUB).

During the meeting, participants expressed concern over the increasing number of Ahmadiyah group members, which now stands at 72 families, as well as the construction of a mosque by the group in their area.

Supian emphasized the importance of joint efforts in preventing the spread of deviant religious beliefs.

He appealed for an educational approach to be taken to communities that have been exposed to these ideologies.

“We must continue to provide intensive counseling through the Ministry of Religion, so that the public can gain a correct understanding of religious teachings. We must not be careless, because the lack of counseling, monitoring, and coaching activities can create a gap for the development of deviant understandings,” Supian emphasized.

As a result of the PAKEM meeting, several strategic steps were agreed upon, including implementing outreach to residents, summoning Ahmadiyah administrators for open dialogue, and re-evaluating the legality of the places of worship being used.

The local government will also coordinate with the provincial government to formulate long-term solutions that are in line with applicable legal provisions.

The meeting was a concrete step by the Seruyan Regency Government in strengthening synergy between institutions to create a peaceful, moderate, and harmonious religious atmosphere in the community. (MC Kab. Seruyan)

  1. Some people are getting worried about the increase in the membership of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Indonesia (although the increase is actually just slow and steady)…
