A woman was beheaded in Afghanistan‘s Sar-e-Pul province for stepping out of her house without a male guardian. The woman’s husband is in Iran and they have no children, officials said. A report in The Independent states that the 30-year-old woman was reportedly slain by members of the Taliban for the “infidel act” of going shopping alone on Monday evening. The incident took place in the province’s Lati village, which is under Taliban control. The ultra-conservative Islamist group prohibits women from leaving their homes unless accompanied by a close male relative, one among many regressive policies against women. Provincial governor’s spokesperson Zabiullah Amani said the woman was stabbed and decapitated using the bayonet of an AK-47 by men linked to the Taliban.
