A member of Egyptian parliament, Elhamy Agina, has reportedly said that universities should performvirginity tests on female students.
“Any girl who enters university, we have to check her medical examination to prove that she is a Miss,” Agina told Egypt’s Youm 7 newspapers, according to Egyptian Streets, a news website. “Therefore, each girl must present an official document upon being admitted to university stating she’s a Miss,” he added.
His heedless comment comes in close heels to his earlier remark last month wherein he had declared that Egyptian women should undergo “female genital mutilation” in order to “reduce their sexual desires”. Why, you ask? Because Egyptian men are “sexually weak.”
