The heart of Islam

Jamaica: As a 14-year-old practicing Ahmadi Muslim, I can tell you that the actions of the so-called Islamic State are the very definition of un-Islamic.

As Ahmadi Muslims, we condemn the killing of any and all innocent people.

Our prayers are with the victims and their families.

The Koran states, “Whosoever kills an innocent . . . it is as if he has killed all of mankind” (5:33).

Furthermore, Islam literally means “peace.”

Why would practicing and dedicated Muslims kill innocent people?

ISIS is only using Islam as an excuse to kill and wreak havoc across the world.

Lastly, the Prophet Muhammed commanded, in a covenant with St. Catherine’s monastery, that Christians should not be, “offended, or disturbed, or coerced or compelled.”

In Islam, Christians are considered “People of the Book” and must be treated with respect and justice.
