PARIS: A French government minister on Wednesday compared women who wear the veil to “negroes who supported slavery” amid a backlash against the growing trend for Muslim-orientated fashion.

Families minister Laurence Rossignol, sparked outrage on social media with her comment which came after former fashion mogul Pierre Berge lashed out at designers creating Islamic clothing and headscarves, accusing them of taking part in the “enslavement of women”.

  1. What’s with these people? On one hand, they believe, in total and absolute freedom, but they seem to draw a line when it comes to Muslims women wanting to wear the veil.

If they really believe in ‘freedom’, then they should accept any manner of dressing – totally covered or half naked!

Why is it that they think that veiled women are ‘oppressed’ (they have no foundation other than their immense IGNORANCE), while the nearly naked ones are not?

In fact, most Muslims would tell them that the half dressed are only playing to men’s wishes. An example being that to sell a car they use very scantily dressed women instead of men. How come? The conclusion one reaches is that the majority of men prefer that!

Therefore, who is really ‘oppressed’ – the veiled woman or the half dressed one?! One wonders….!
