BBC The Big Question was in Oxford to debate the EU strategy on the North Africa refugee boats crises.

Nic Conner- The Bow Group’s Social and Home Affairs Research Fellow: proposed that refugees must be rescued from the sea. Smugglers must be stopped. Boats must be destroyed. Refugees must be taken to a safe zone. At the safe zone those fleeing war in places such as Syria can be granted asylum in the UK and economic migrants can apply for asylum there, instead in the UK.
