In hopes of promoting the true teachings of Islam and to battle ‘Islamophobia,’ the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community will be hosting an open house Saturday.
“The purpose of this open house will be to allow the residents of Kingston to come and learn what the Holy Qur’an truly teaches about Freedom of Speech and Blasphemy,” Noman Khalil, national executive director of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, said in an email.
“Residents of Kingston can visit the open house to have these and many other questions answered.”
The open house will be at the Kingston Frontenac Public Library’s Isabel Turner Branch, 935 Gardiners Rd., between 1 to 5 p.m.
“With recent terrorist acts of extremist groups, such as ISIS and al-Qaida, who have launched terrorist attacks on Canada’s Parliament Hill and France’s magazine Charlie Hebdo through recruitment and radicalization, it has become very important to condemn terrorism and dispel misconceptions about Islam,” Khalil said.
