Ahmadiyya Muslim Community charity walk from Baitul Tauheed Mosque, Fartown.

Rain could not wash away the enthusiasm of those on a charity walk who were put through their paces to raise money for kids with brain injuries.

Ladies from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association from Huddersfield, Spen Valley, Sheffield and Rotherham united in Fartown to take part in the event, which raised vital funds for The Children’s Trust as part of its 30th birthday celebrations.

They skipped, hopped and ran from Baitul Tauheed Mosque, whilst others tried to prove that three legs were better than two by completing the route tied together.

Regional President, Dr Amtul Shafee, who supported the event and is leading regional efforts for the national branch’s chosen charity, said: “We want to raise awareness of the UK’s leading charity for children with brain injuries.

“They affect the community as a whole and this charity is making a real difference to children’s lives.”

The Tadworth-based charity supports children and families across the UK with face-to-face help and online support.

President Mrs Khalda Maryam said: “It’s all for a good cause, in good spirits and we just wanted to be part of it.

“If we can raise awareness for this charity then our mission has succeeded.”

The event raised more than £1,000.
