The youth wing of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat will organise a peace conference in Kozhikode in the backdrop of conflicts between different countries, cultures, and belief systems, at 5 p.m. on August 16.
Jamaat leaders told a press conference here on Tuesday that the national-level conference was being organised as per directions from the global leadership of the community, which was known for its ‘commitment to peace.’
Muhammed Saleem, editor of Sathyadoothan, a literary arm of the Jamaat, said the peace initiatives by community global leader Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad had come in for wide appreciation from leaders across the world.
“It was him that British Prime Minister David Cameron qualified as ‘man of peace,’ Mr. Saleem said.
The Los Angles Times called him the ‘champion of peace,’ he said.
Jamaat youth wing national president Rafeeque Baig Kashmiri would deliver the keynote address of the conference at the Baithul Quddoos auditorium at Muthalakkulam. K.M. Ahammed Koya, Kozhikode zonal amir of the Jamaat would preside over the function, Mr. Saleem said.
The Jamaat, as a community, faced an existential threat in different parts of the world, especially in Pakistan and parts of north India.
The fact that the Jamaat was organising a peace conference, despite being at the receiving end of aggressions, showed its commitment to peace, he said.
A Malayalam translation of peace lectures delivered by Mr. Masroor Ahmad in different parts of the world and a compilation of letters he had written to world leaders would be released at the conference. Jamaat youth wing leader Sulthan Nazeer also spoke.
