Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond has said there is no evidence to suggest that a soldier reported to have been abducted by Hamas is a British citizen.
It has been reported that 23-year-old Hadar Goldin, who kidnapped on Friday morning, held British citizenship.
Mr Hammond said the abduction was still being investigated, although Israeli media has also reported it does not believe he is a British citizen.
