11 Bizarre Church Laws That Could Send You To Jail

 | By Yasmine Hafiz

Some states take their religious services very seriously. Breaking these laws could send you straight from the chapel to the cooler for something as simple as a sneeze. Though these appear to all still be on the books, a lawyer probably wouldn’t have a prayer of successfully prosecuting anyone arrested for eating peanuts in church. At least, we hope not…

Courtesy of DumbLaws.com, here are eleven strange church laws that could get you arrested.

It is illegal to wear a fake mustache that causes laughter in church.

In Rehoboth it is illegal to whisper in church.

Shotguns must be taken to church in the event of a Native American attack.

In Boston, it is against the law to eat peanuts while in church.

Private citizens may arrest anyone who disturbs a church service.

In Omaha, it’s illegal to sneeze or burp during a church service.

New York
In New York City, it is illegal to fart in church with the intention of causing a disturbance.

North Carolina
It is illegal to have sex in a churchyard.

It is against the law to kill a housefly within 160 feet of a church without a license.

It is illegal to go to church in disguise.

  1. I agree with what you are saying.

My point is that the Church ran Europe as a theocracy for centuries, until they could not anymore. Likewise, the Mullahs want to manage all Muslims under a theocracy, ruled by them and they will let go, only when they know, for sure that they cannot.

In America, we see only small glimpses of abuse of power by Churches, the exaggerated versions of which we see through the acts of Mullahs, in the “Muslim countries.”

Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

So, if separation of Mosque-Church and State is not jealously guarded by the moderates, extremists in all religions are guaranteed to run amock with their influence and power.

Society has to gradually precisely define, in all countries of the world, “what belongs to God and what belongs to Caesar,” in today’s lingo, what is in the domain of Mosque, Church and Synagogue and what is in the domain of State.
