The energy ministers of Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday in Bern, pledging cooperation between the two countries on energy issues in the future.
Swiss Energy Minister Doris Leuthard and her UAE counterpart, Suhail Al Mazrouei, agreed to share information and knowledge in the areas of renewable energies, energy efficiency, CO2 reduction, and water technology, as well as best practices in energy policy.
Intensifying cooperation between the two countries is a goal. This includes plans for the establishment of research collaborations between universities and other research institutes in the two countries.
The basis of the memorandum of understanding was a bilateral agreement signed between the two countries in 2009.
