Munir Ahmad moved from Pakistan to Canada in 1999, died of a heart attack last week

Saskatoon’s Muslim community and people in Pelican Narrows, Sask. came together in grief this weekend.Together, the two communities are mourning the death of Munir Ahmad.

Ahmad, who came to Canada from Pakistan in 1999, moved to Pelican Narrows about four years ago. He died of a heart attack last week.

Taukeer Ashraf, who lives in Saskatoon, said his friend shared his beliefs with people in his community.
“He’s been working in Pelican Narrows as a school teacher for the past four years and I guess he got very involved in the community,” Ashraf said. “Munir was a very friendly, sociable, happy, lovable character. He didn’t hide his faith and I think a lot of his personality came out in his faith.”

  1. Hi All, I was inspired by this man and wrote a song based on that saying. I might sing it today at Playing for Change Day fundraiser in Regina, SK. I came online to find his name.
