Canada: Ahmadiyya Muslim Women Association of Calgary NW observe International Women’s Day

Federal Minister of State Hon. Michelle Rempel and Associate Minister (Alberta) Hon. Teresa Woo Paw participated in the seminar and gave their remarks.

Minister Rempel shared her visit to the event through twitter showing her hands decorated with henna.

Alberta Minister Hon. Teresa Woo Paw shared a picture of the event to her twitter followers appreciating the diversity being promoted at the event.

A local chapter of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Women Association (AMWA), Lajna Imā’Illah, of Calgary NW organized its 3rd Annual International Women’s Day Interfaith Seminar and Exhibition on Saturday March 8, 2014 at local Multiplex Cardel Place.

The event entitled “Faith & Feminism: Does Religion Oppress Women?” was attended by representatives from Hinduism, Christianity, Judaism and Islam where their respective speakers gave their perspectives.

The speakers tackled the questions pertaining to the “Status of Women” and “what rights are granted to women in different religions according to their scriptures and core teachings.”

The presentations were followed by a Q&A session. Several people expressed their thanks for being given a chance to learn and clear misconceptions about different faith. Read more @ ahmadiyyatimes.blogspot.in
