No peace through ‘senseless force’: Sharif

BAHAWALPUR: In his first public speech since a US drone strike killed Pakistani Taliban leader Hakimullah Mehsud, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday warned that peace could not be achieved “by unleashing senseless force.”

The killing of Mehsud on Friday, as government representatives prepared to meet members of his Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) umbrella militant group, triggered an angry response from Islamabad.

Interior minister Chaudhry Nisar accused Washington of sabotaging peace efforts with the drone strike.

  1. Mr PM I have a very simple question for you. You and your friends complain about drone attacks. Please clarify is North Waziristan under the writ of your government? Do you have any say in that area? If nothing is under your control then why to make hue and cry to fool the nation. It is a safe heaven for terrorists. You have no power to eradicate these heavens. Let the super power to do it. Another million dollar question who is providing exact intelligence to US for carrying out these precision targeted attacks?

  2. Well, another question: Do you not agree with the US ‘in secret’ that they may go ahead with drone strikes and that you will ‘protest’ in public? (and they should not mind…)
