The World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and Fifth Khalifa, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, inaugurated the Masroor Mosque in Brisbane on 25 October 2013. After unveiling a plaque to commemorate the opening, His Holiness led the Friday Prayers from the new Mosque.
During his sermon, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said the inauguration of the new Mosque was a source of joy for all Ahmadis in Australia.
His Holiness said:
“With the Grace of Allah, the Ahmadis of Brisbane and indeed all of Australia have been granted the ability to build this Mosque. No matter how much you thank Allah for this Favour it will not be enough.”
The Khalifa reiterated that it was the role of Ahmadi Muslims to spread peace and brotherhood amongst all segments of society. His Holiness said that whenever an Ahmadi Mosque was built it increased the responsibilities of the Ahmadi Muslims to uphold the true and peaceful teachings of Islam at all levels. He added that the prayers performed in the new Mosque would only be valued by Allah the Almighty if they were accompanied by virtuous actions outside of it.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:
“Do not become content or satisfied merely because you have built this Mosque. Remember that now your responsibilities have greatly increased – it is incumbent upon all of you to show the real beauty of this Mosque through your piety, your noble conduct and by raising the standards of your worship to the very highest levels.”
The construction of Masroor Mosque cost $4.5 million and was funded entirely by members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. Whilst praising the sacrifices made by the local Ahmadi Muslims, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad prayed that the spirit of sacrifice engendered would not be temporary but would ever increase and continue into the future generations of Ahmadi Muslims.
