Muslims for Life – A Cogent Rebuttal to Terrorism

examiner.com: On October 16, Muslims will be celebrating Eid ul Adha, Islam’s most important holiday, commemorating the sacrifice and obedience of the great patriarch, Prophet Abraham. It is observed at the heels of the month of Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca), the largest communal gathering of mankind in the world.

As Muslims in America set out for the festivities, they are mindful of the somber and tragic happenings in the world. As some Muslims resort to violence in the name of Islam and commit acts of terrorism, their hateful actions tarnish the beautiful and peaceful message of Islam. As terror groups within Muslim communities mushroom around the world, their barbarism is increasingly leaving non-Muslims skeptical about Islam and its adherents.

Thus, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA undertook a grand initiative in 2011 to demonstrate what Islam stands for –not just with words; rather it organized an outstanding communal display of compassion, humility and sacrifice nationwide. Its members galvanized a grassroots campaign ‘Muslims for Life’ to collect 10,000 units of blood to commemorate the innocent lives lost of 9/11 on its 10th anniversary. This year, the goal has been bumped up to 12,000 units that will save 36,000 lives.
