Report: Jalsa Khilafat Day (Youm-e-Khilafat) celebrated by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Mumbai, India

In accordance with the directives of the Markaz, Jalsa Khilafat Day was celebrated by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Mumbai on 27th May 2013, at it’s Mission House, at Alhaq bldg, Mumbai Central.

The jalsa was presided by Maulvi Shaikh Ishaque Saheb, Zonal Ameer, Mumbai Zone,Maharastra.

Traditionally the jalsa began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an by Janab Shabeeb Hanif Saheb, with it’s Urdu translation being read out by Janab Zahid-ur-Rehman Khan Saheb. This was followed by a Nazm recited by Janab Ebadat-ul-Haque Khan Saheb.

Thereafter, members of the Mumbai Jama’at delivered speeches on the following topics, related to Khilafat (Succession): Janab Zahid-ur-Rehman Khan on ‘Khilafat-e-Saniya in Ahmmadiyyat’, Janab Masarrat Ahmad Saheb,Sadr Jamaat Mumbai on ‘The Importance and Endowments of Khilafat’, and Janab Sayyad Shakeel Ahmad Saheb on ‘Practical Examples of Obedience to Khilafat’.

Maulvi Shaikh Ishaque Saheb delivered the presidential address, during which he recited the ‘Oath of Allegiance to Khilafat’, which was repeated by all members present at the gathering.

This year the khilafat of Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khilafat-ul-Masih V (aba) has completed 10 years. On this occassion, a special Quiz Program was organised, related to the important events from the lives of all five Khulfa.The Quiz Program was hosted by Maulvi Roshan Ahmad Tanveer Saheb, Assistant Muballigh, Mumbai. Prizes were given to the winning team members by Maulvi Shaikh Ishaque Saheb.

The function ended with the traditional du’a, by all present.

After the Magrib-Isha namaz, all participants who had gathered for the jalsa were served dinner, and sweets were distributed.
