ALLAHABAD: The birth anniversary of Hazrat Ali, son-in-law of Prophet Mohammad, was celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm on Friday. People remembered his services to the mankind.

‘Mehfils’ were organized in various localities like Rani Mandi, Dariyabad, Kareli, Ghausnagar, Chowk, Rasoolpur, Atala, Shahganj, Katra, Nakhas Kohna and other areas. Programmes were organised at Qazi Saheb Masjid in Bakshi Bazaar, Jama Masjid in Chak, Rauza Hazrat Ali and Nafees Jayasi in Kareli in which poets from the city and other places read couplets, eulogizing the character of Hazrat Ali.

Dargah Maula Ali at Dariyabad and Bahadurganj were beautifully decorated. At Masjid Imam Raza, a function and ‘langer’ continued till late at night.
