Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan was badly injured when he fell off a lifter while being hoisted on to a stage at an election rally in Gulberg, near here.
Khan received a major a head injury, but sources said he was not in a critical condition. TV footage showed an unconscious Khan being rushed to a hospital.
Sources said Khan fell when the wooden platform gave way as there were many people on it. His security personnel were on the platform when it gave way. His security personnel were also injured as the group fell off the lifter.
“He has been taken to Shaukat Khanum hospital,” PTI member Imran Ismail was quoted in the media.
“He has lost quite a lot of blood and since, there was no ambulance we have taken him in our private cars.”
Ambulances are an essential part of protocol, but Khan only had a security squad along with him at the rally.

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan Tuesday sustained injuries after falling from a lifter during climbing up the stage installed for an election rally in Lahore.
TV footage showed him tumbling down along with three or four personal body guards on a pick up truck. The PTI chief was seen bleeding when he was taken away by his party supporters to the city’s Liberty Hospital.
The 60-year-old, who has undertaken a punishing schedule of daily rallies but who is known for his physical fitness, tumbled from a riser along with several of his staff, seemingly after one of them lost their balance.
Witness Raza Zaidi told AFP that Khan was being lifted on a crane with five people but lost his balance and fell when a sixth one tried to climb up. Khan hit the lifter before falling on the ground.
Khan sustained injuries on his head and back, said the hospital sources. They also said that Khan had to have as many as 16 stitches due to the injuries he sustained at back of his head.
The rally was held near Ghalib Market in Lahore’s Gulberg neighbourhood.
PTI spokeswoman Shirin Mazari told AFP Khan was injured on his forehead after falling from a height of more than seven feet (over two metres), but was conscious.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz issued sympathetic statements to their competitor in Punjab. They prayed for swift recovery of Khan.
Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain and Allama Tahirul Qadri also showed sympathy towards the PTI chief and prayed for his well being.
Famous singer and PTI leader Abrarul Haq has said the party chief is out of danger and stable now at the hospital. Another party leader Asad Umar, talking to Dawn.com, also confirmed that Khan is now conscious and well.
People at the rally venue, where thousands had gathered, expressed sadness.
“Passion and love for Imran Khan brought all these people here. We are still here, all we can do is pray now,” said Sobia Khan, a PTI supporter.
Imran Khan’s ex-wife Jamima Khan also tweeted that he is stable and conscious now.

If he is a God-fearing person, he will think about this physical fall as a reminder that man is mortal, only Allah is immortal & He is the One who decides who is right or wrong(muslim or nonmuslim) and who will stay how long in this world before facing his Creator. All power belongs to Allah.

We can’t be too quick to judge this as God’s punishment. But I was hoping he would recant his statement in that very emotional video message. One wishes … one prays …
In his Chiniot speech he first declares us non Muslim then ironically he goes on narrating the famous incident where companion of Holy Prophet SAW killed a qafir who said kalima to escape death.
He then said that no one knows what is in the heart so other people should think twice before calling me qafir.I don’t know what to say.

I prayed to Allah for the quick recovery of Imran Khan Sahib. May Allah protect him from all bad things. He was trapped in a bad case at a bad time. It was a dfficult time and question. He is not a maulvis man. But still he should be careful about his statements. He is hoping to become a stateman.
We do not know where he belongs. There are so many other anti-Ahmadiyah groups in the country. May Allah guide him to physical as well as spiritual health. Ameen.
There is no reason to disbelieve that it is an accident but with the same breath one has to acknowledge that nothing moves without the will of God. Imran Saheb should be careful in his deliverence and realize that he was just hit by a boundary. Better delivery is required or else he will be seeing the ball flying over the boundary thus resulting in him being dropped from the squad. May Allah guide him.

No one must celebrate his fall. I pray for his health and quick recovery. My only concern is that to apease Mullahs he must not hurt feelings of millions of Ahmadis all over the world and utter blasphemy to their spritual leaders. He must respect others beliefs as a democratic norm otherwise he will fall foul of INNI MOEENUN ……..EHANTEKA like others in the past – Bhutto and Zia’s end is not unknown.
