2 Pakistani diplomats and Ahmadi pilot Injured in Plane Crash at Windwood Fly-In Resort in Canaan Valley

CANAAN VALLEY – West Virginia, USA

One of the three men involved in a plane crash in Tucker County remains in the Morgantown Bobby hospital.
The crash happened Friday 26th April 2013 near the Windwood Fly-In Resort in Canaan Valley.
The Canaan Valley Volunteer Fire Department said the single engine Cessna 172 crashed at the north end of the resort.
State Police said Pilot Waseem Haider, 46, Shujjat Rathore, 48, and Muhammad Paracha, 46, all from Virginia, were on board. Pilot Haider belongs to Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA.

A spokesperson with Ruby Memorial said Haider is still listed in fair condition. Group Captain Habib Paracha and Shujat Rathore have been released. Paracha and Rathore are Pakistani diplomats, Paracha works with military attaché while Rathore works in the embassy visa section. Both embassy employees were away on a working day having fun.

A preliminary report by the NTSB hasn’t been completed.
The FAA said the plane was registered to a non bank holdings company in McLean, Virginia.

The Canaan Valley Volunteer Fire Department said a single engine Cessna 172 aircraft crashed at the north end of the Windwood Fly-In Resort in Canaan Valley around 12:40 p.m. Friday.
Three men were injured in the crash.

West Virginia State Police said Waseem Haider, 46, Shujjat Rathore, 48, and Muhammad Paracha, 46 are all from Virginia.

Rathore and Paracha managed to get out of the aircraft, but Haider had to be cut out.

According to the Associated Press, state police said witnesses reported the aircraft touched down, but ran out of room. Haider tried to pull up, and the plane clipped the tops of trees.

To prevent a fire, foam was placed by firefighters around the aircraft to stop a fuel leak.

The three men were flown by helicopters to Ruby Memorial Hospital.

A Ruby Memorial Spokesperson said Haider’s condition is fair, Paracha’s condition is good, and Rathore’s condition is serious.

The FAA is investigating and was on scene Friday night.

Tucker County 911 is reporting that a single engine Cessna 172 aircraft crashed at the north end of the Windwood Fly-In Resort in Canaan Valley around 12:40 p.m. Friday.
Three people were on board and are in the process of being flown by helicopters to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
The plane crashed in a wooded area just off Buckhorn Ridge Road, near Cortland Road.
West Virginia State Police, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Officers, Tucker County EMS, Davis VFD, Thomas VFD, and Canaan Valley VFD are at the scene.
Tucker County 911 said the identities of those injured and the extent of their injuries are currently unknown.

The FAA has been called in to investigate.
