AMMAN/MAFRAQ — A Jordanian university student was killed while fighting alongside Syrian rebel forces on Friday, Islamist and Syrian sources said Saturday.
According to Mousa Abdullat, representative of the Jordanian Salafist movement, 22-year-old University of Jordan student Walid Othman was killed near the southern Syrian city of Daraa on Friday while fighting with Free Syrian Army (FSA) forces.
Othman had joined Syrian rebel forces in January to wage jihad (holy war) against Damascus, Abdullat said.
“Walid saw it as his duty as a Muslim to defend his Syrian brothers and sisters from the massacres of the [Bashar] Assad regime,” he added.
Syrian rebel sources confirmed that Othman, one of dozens of young Jordanians who have joined the armed opposition in recent weeks, died while fighting alongside the Daraa FSA brigade.
Some 500 Jordanians are currently fighting alongside the Jabhat Al Nusra jihadist coalition, according to Islamist sources, representing the largest foreign contingent under the umbrella of Al Qaeda-linked group.
“We are always in need of fighters and are welcoming those from Jordan and elsewhere who are willing to fight in the name of God,” said Abu Mohammed Al Dimashqi, an FSA officer based in the Damascene countryside.
“If they can carry a gun and join us in battle, the Free Syrian Army is welcoming them.”
A total of 37 Jordanians have been killed while fighting along armed groups in Syria since the onset of the conflict in March, 2011.

It is a pity, sad and with a great deep sorrow to say that the muslim youngsters in the entire Muslim world not only few countries but in all the entire Muslim world or in the whole Muslim countries, are an easy catch of some rebellions, terrorists International oragnisations who propogate in the mosques and in coleges and unversities of Islamic countries just to trape young men and boys for Jihad.They brain wash them and they encourage them to take part in the battelfield also they prepare suicideers against any thing in the name of Allah ho Akbar.The young men As a Muslim by faith feel attraction in the name of Allah ho Akbar to fight as Jihadies. Not necessarily 2nd factor is un-employment in youngsters and also and uneducation among the poor muslim youths especially in poor Muslim countries. The main central place is MOSQUE where the Mullah or Amam is always an hidden agent of the enemies of Islam. He works for the enemies and prepares the youngs for Jihad and to fight against anyone in the nam eof Allah o akbar.
May Allah give our Muslim mother enough strenth not to send their children in such mosques where their children learn fake Islam and so called Jihad perprations with brain washings of their children.
