Quetta: Young Ahmadi Trader Maqsood Ahmad targeted and killed in Quetta on account of religious hatred

Increased in target killing of Ahmadies in Quetta after Karachi is of serious concern. Jamaat Ahmadiyya Spokesperson

Chanab Nagar (Rabwah): (PR)- A young Ahmadi was killed in targeted attack in Satellite Town Quetta on account of religious hatred.

According to the details Maqsood Ahmad had gone to drop his children to school and was shot at by two assailants sitting on motorcycle. He was hit by four bullets on his forehead and died on the way to the hospital. He was a prominent member of Jamaat Ahmadiyya Quetta. He was only 31. He leaves behind in addition to his parents a widow, a son and a daughter. It is important to recount here that his brother Manzoor Ahmad was murdered last month also. His body will be brought to Rabwah for burial.

The Spokesperson of Jamaat Ahmadiyya Mr. Saleemuddin has severaly condemned this incident while expressing his deep grief and anguish. He stated that in 2012 there has been an escalation in target killing and prominent members of the community are being targeted. Coming immediately after the target killings in Karachi this points towards a systemic wave of violence where it is clear that miscreants are busy targeting Ahmadies in different parts of Pakistan. And there seems to be no one to stop them. He said that the hate filled literature against the Ahmadies is being distributed in the whole country openly and explicitly and while the administration has been informed repeatedly there seems to be no credible action on their part.

The Spokesperson stressed that in order to save precious lives from being lost it is critical that publishing of all hate literature  be stopped forthwith and those so called religious scholars who give decrees to encourage such hate must be brought to justice.
