UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) – U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said on Wednesday the maker of an anti-Islam film that triggered violent protests across the Muslim world abused his right to freedom of expression by making the movie, which he called a “disgraceful and shameful act.”
The film, posted on the Internet under several titles including “Innocence of Muslims,” mocked the Prophet Mohammad and portrayed him as a womanizer and a fool.
It sparked days of deadly anti-American violence in many Muslim countries, including an assault on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi in Libya in which the U.S. ambassador died.
“Freedoms of expression should be and must be guaranteed and protected, when they are used for common justice, common purpose,” Ban told a news conference.
“When some people use this freedom of expression to provoke or humiliate some others’ values and beliefs, then this cannot be protected in such a way.”

Very well said it is really “disgraceful and shameful act”. There is limit for everything, but why not about the freedom of expression and speech? I believe that the freedom of speech is an asset for human beings but that should not be misused or abused.
Respect, honour and dignity is also a great asset for human beings, it is a great virtue. Let this virtue be part of our every day life.
Respect for all!
Very well said. But now action is needed. Words cannot be a remedy. We need an ointment of action applied against it on our wounded hearts. So immediately a law should be passed against it.
To me killing of such a person is not the solution but more important is to make him realize what a brutal and inhuman mistake he has committed against the most pious and innocent man ever known. If he understands and seeks a real apology and destroys the film. There cannot be a better revenge but to forgive him.
But there is very little such chance, because I think he is not alone there is some hate monger lobby behind it. No one can dare do this all alone.
So there is a need of a law that puts a ban on such a horrible abuse of freedom of expression.
